CAMP HILL – Geisinger Holy Spirit has been named a Center of Excellence for SAVI Brachy breast cancer treatment by Cianna Medical, becoming the fourth treatment center in Pennsylvania to receive the designation. Cianna Medical is the developer of the SAVI Brachy technique and device.

SAVI Brachy is a precise radiation therapy for early stage breast cancer that reduces treatment time and preserves healthy tissue around the radiation site. SAVI Brachy uses catheters to deliver radiation directly to a lumpectomy site. The catheters gently expand to fit the size and shape of the tumor cavity, and radiation travels through each catheter to deliver a precise dose, customized for the exact size, shape or location of the tumor cavity.

“The Center of Excellence accreditation recognizes that we are a comprehensive facility committed to providing the most advanced and progressive breast treatment for our patients,” said Carolyn Moore, operations manager. “Our team of knowledgeable and compassionate professionals work together to help women feel confident that they are receiving the highest level of care.”

Ashraf Youssef, M.D., and Angela Soto Hamlin, M.D., provide state-of-the-art treatment at Geisinger Holy Spirit Cancer Center, in Mechanicsburg.
